History

Erected in the 4th century, the Diocese of Liège (Latin: Dioecesis Leodiensis) is among Belgium's Latin Church territories and today covers the same ground as Liège Province, though historically its reach was much greater. It now stands as a suffragan within the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels, with its cathedra in St. Paul's Cathedral in the episcopal city of Liège.
