Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese in central Bolivia, erected as a diocese in 1847 and elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese on 30 July 1975. Its seat is the Catedral Metropolitana San Sebastian in Cochabamba. Archbishop Oscar Omar Aparicio Cespedes has led the archdiocese since 2014.

  • Bolivian delegation to participate in International Missiological Symposium in Chile

    A Bolivian delegation from the Obras Misionales Pontificias will attend the International Missiological Symposium in Casablanca, Chile, from September 24 to 27, 2026. The event, held at the Santuario de la Purísima, serves as spiritual and pastoral preparation for the CAM 7. The delegation includes Sister Cintia Gimena Vásquez Aramayo, general secretary of the Obras Misionales Pontificias of Bolivia, Carla Nimett Delgado Huanca, diocesan director for the Arquidiócesis de Cochabamba, and Ágata Teresa Szapulak, diocesan director for the Vicariato Apostólico de Ñuflo de Chávez. Organized by the OMP of Chile, the symposium brings together approximately 70 representatives from various Churches in America to discuss missionary spirituality and evangelization in peripheral areas. The Bolivian representatives will participate in community discernment and liturgical coordination alongside delegates from countries such as Costa Rica and Surinam.
