History

Canada's only eparchy (Eastern Catholic diocese) of the Chaldean Catholic Church (Syro-Oriental Rite) is the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Mar Addai of Toronto. Belonging to no ecclesiastical province, it depends directly on the Chaldean Catholic Patriarch of Babylon. Its cathedral is the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd in North York, Toronto, Ontario. Figures from 2016 record 31,716 faithful served, with seven priests and 40 permanent deacons presiding over eight parishes spread across the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia.
