The Apostolic Prefecture of Hainan is a Latin rite missionary jurisdiction covering Hainan province, China, exempt and directly dependent on the Holy See. Erected as a mission sui iuris in 1929 and elevated to apostolic prefecture on 25 May 1936, its seat is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Haikou. The prefecture has been vacant since 1980.

History
Covering the Chinese province of Hainan, this apostolic prefecture is a pre-diocesan missionary Latin jurisdiction of the Catholic Church. It is exempt, belonging to no ecclesiastical province and depending directly on the Holy See and its missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Its episcopal see is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Haikou, the provincial capital. Since 1980 the prefecture has been vacant, without a prefect.
