History
Founded in 745, the Diocese of Eichstätt (Latin: Dioecesis Eystettensis) is a Latin Church see of the Catholic Church in Bavaria, seated at Eichstätt and subject to the archbishop of Bamberg. From the Middle Ages until 1803 it existed as a state within the Holy Roman Empire, the Prince-Bishopric of Eichstätt.
