It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Valladolid, with its seat at the Cathedral of the Saviour in Avila, the city of St Teresa of Jesus. Bishop Jesus Rico Garcia was appointed on 15 July 2023.

In the city of Ávila, within the ecclesiastical province of Valladolid in Spain, the Catholic Church maintains a Latin diocese known in Latin as Dioecesis Abulensis.
