The Diocese of Shrewsbury is a Latin rite diocese covering Shropshire and Cheshire plus parts of Greater Manchester and Merseyside in England, erected on 29 September 1850 at the restoration of the hierarchy. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Birmingham. Its seat is Shrewsbury Cathedral (Our Lady Help of Christians and St Peter of Alcantara).

History
The historic English counties of Shropshire and Cheshire form the territory of the Diocese of Shrewsbury (Latin: Dioecesis Salopiensis), a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in the Province of Birmingham. Alongside rural Shropshire, the diocese takes in parts of urban Greater Manchester south of the River Mersey, among them Birkenhead, Stockport and Altrincham. Mark Davies, the current bishop, succeeded to the see on 1 October 2010.
