Syriac Catholic archeparchy of Baghdad, erected 28 September 1862 for Syriac Catholic faithful in central Iraq. Its seat is the Sayidat al-Nejat (Our Lady of Salvation) Cathedral in Baghdad, site of the 2010 massacre of worshippers.

History
Among the ecclesiastical territories of the Syriac Catholic Church in Iraq is the Syriac Catholic Archeparchy of Baghdad. It is not a metropolitan see: exempt, it depends directly on the Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch without belonging to his or any other ecclesiastical province, and in Rome it answers to the Congregation for the Oriental Churches. Its cathedral, the Sayidat al-Nejat Cathedral, stands in the episcopal see and national capital of Baghdad.
