Catholic Bishop in Angola Urges Christians to Put the Word of God at the Service of Human Dignity
Bishop Vicente Sanombo told Christians to use the Word of God to support human dignity, justice, and peace. Speaking to Radio Ecclesia on September 15, the Bishop of Kwito-Bié said biblical reflection must connect to the actual challenges and experiences of the people the Church serves. Sanombo, who serves as president of the Episcopal Commission for Biblical Pastoral Ministry for the Bishops' Conference of Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, spoke ahead of the Third International Biblical Symposium scheduled for September 17–19. He said the gathering intends to move past simple biblical knowledge to find practical pastoral responses for community life. The symposium brings together academics, students, priests, religious men and women, and pastoral workers. Sanombo noted that the event provides a space for participants from different countries to exchange ideas, which can help deepen the understanding of Christian life and evangelization in Africa and other regions.
