History
Comprising the whole of the Grand Duchy, the Archdiocese of Luxembourg (Latin: Archidioecesis Luxemburgensis; Luxembourgish: Äerzbistum Lëtzebuerg; French: Archidiocèse de Luxembourg; German: Erzbistum Luxemburg) is a Latin Church jurisdiction of the Catholic Church in Luxembourg. Founded as a diocese in 1870, it was raised to an archdiocese in 1988. Its seat is the Cathedral of Notre Dame in the city of Luxembourg, and Jean-Claude Hollerich has been archbishop since 2011.
