Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese in northeastern Mexico, erected by Pope Pius VI on 15 December 1777 as the Diocese of Linares (Nuevo Leon), elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese in 1891, and renamed Monterrey on 9 June 1922. Its seat is the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of Monterrey. It is one of the largest sees in Mexico, with more than five million Catholics.

History
Located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, the Archdiocese of Monterrey (Latin: Archidioecesis Monterreyensis) is a metropolitan see of the Latin Church in Mexico. Seven dioceses stand as its suffragans: Ciudad Victoria, Linares, Matamoros-Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo, Piedras Negras, Saltillo and Tampico.

Archdiocese of Monterrey launches mobile chapel
The Archdiocese of Monterrey is launching a mobile chapel to bring the Blessed Sacrament, prayer, and confession to neighborhoods that lack nearby churches or face difficult access. The project, which is scheduled to begin operating by the end of September, is part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the Archdiocese. The mobile chapel consists of a van equipped with an altar, two kneelers, and two seats. The vehicle is designed to protect the monstrance and provide space for a priest to hear confessions. According to Father Ignacio Pulido Mendiola, the archdiocese's communications director, the chapel will visit problematic areas, including territories used by migrants and regions affected by drug trafficking violence. Archbishop Rogelio Cabrera Lopez assigned the project to Father Adrian Villagrán, the parish priest of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who helped adapt the vehicle. The idea for the mobile chapel came from a lay couple who wished to facilitate the presence of the Eucharist in remote locations. In addition to peripheral neighborhoods, the van may visit high-traffic areas such as parks and recreational centers.
