The Diocese of Nouakchott is the only Catholic ecclesiastical territory in Mauritania, erected on December 18, 1965, and immediately subject to the Holy See. It has been led by Bishop Victor Ndione since February 2024.

Mauritania has a single Catholic ecclesiastical territory: the Diocese of Nouakchott, a Latin Church diocese situated in the capital, Nouakchott, where the Cathedral of St. Joseph stands.
