Latin-rite metropolitan archdiocese in northeastern Slovenia, successor of the historic Diocese of Lavant whose see moved to Maribor in 1859; established as the Diocese of Maribor on 5 March 1962 and promoted to metropolitan archdiocese on 7 April 2006. Its seat is Maribor Cathedral (St. John the Baptist) and its suffragans are Celje and Murska Sobota.

History
With its episcopal see at Maribor, the Archdiocese of Maribor (Latin: Archidioecesis Mariborensis, Slovene: Nadškofija Maribor) is a Latin Church archdiocese of the Catholic Church in Slovenia.
