The Archdiocese of Buenos Aires is the primatial Latin rite see of Argentina, erected as a diocese in 1620 and elevated to an archdiocese in 1866. Its seat is the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral, and it was led by Jorge Mario Bergoglio (Pope Francis) before his 2013 election.
