Pope Francis met with new bishops on September 10, 2026, at the conclusion of a formation course titled "Bishops, servants of communion in the Church and in today’s world." The meeting took place in the Synod Hall.
The course was organized by the Dicastery for Bishops, the Dicastery for the Eastern Churches, and the Dicastery for Evangelization, specifically the Section for First Evangelization and the New Particular Churches. During the audience, the Pope told the participants that they should not walk alone and encouraged them to remember the fraternity they experienced while praying and celebrating the Eucharist together.
The Pope advised the new bishops to remain with Jesus as their most important task. He also stated that every person, including priests, deacons, consecrated men and women, families, and the poor, must find a place in a bishop's heart.
