The Eparchy of Wrocław-Koszalin marks the anniversary of the death of Archbishop Myroslav Marushyn, the former secretary of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches.

Archbishop Marushyn, who also served as the titular archbishop of Kadi, died on September 21, 2009, at the St. Josaphat Ukrainian Pontifical College in Rome. He is buried at the Prima Porta cemetery in Rome within the section for the Congregation for the Eastern Churches.

Born on June 26, 1924, in the village of Kniazhe near Zolochiv, Marushyn studied theology and philosophy in Lviv and Paderborn, Germany. He earned a doctorate from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in 1951. He was ordained a priest by Archbishop Ivan Budka in Munich in 1948. During his career, Marushyn served as the Apostolic Visitor for Ukrainians in Western Europe and worked as the secretary of the Ukrainian Catholic Committee for Migrants from 1951 to 1971.
