The Church honors the memory of Prince Michael and his boyar Theodore, holy martyrs and confessors from Chernihiv, on September 20.

The Eparchy of Wrocław-Koszalin identifies these figures as miracle workers. Historical accounts describe Prince Michael as a pious leader of Kyiv and Chernihiv who lived a virtuous life and served Christ. The reports note that these saints lived during the period of the Mongol invasions in 1238, when the forces of Batu Khan devastated the lands of Rus.
