21 anti-poverty organizations awarded $46,000 in CCHD grants

Bishop Walkowiak ratified the distribution of nearly $46,000 in local grants to 21 anti-poverty organizations across six West Michigan counties. The funding comes from the local portion of the annual Catholic Campaign for Human Development collection, which retains 25% of the funds collected.

The grant recipients, recommended by a local committee, serve both urban and rural communities. Recipients include St. Patrick–St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven for its migrant worker ministry, St. Joseph–St. Mary Parish in Belding for its food pantry, and St. Mary’s Parish in Spring Lake for its walking with moms in need ministry. Other recipients include Catholic Charities West Michigan, Lake Country Area Churches Charities in Baldwin, and God’s Community Kitchen in Greenville.

Additional organizations receiving funds include St. Charles Parish in Greenville for its walking with moms in need ministry, Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Ionia for the Friends of Jesus Fund, and St. Patrick Parish in Portland for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Other projects include Our Lady of Consolation in Rockford, HELP Pregnancy Aid, Inc., St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Grand Rapids, and Holy Family Parish in Caledonia.
