The Eparchy of Sambir-Drohobych marks the 40th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Blessed Yulian Voronovskyi. He was consecrated as a bishop on September 30, 1986, by Metropolitan Volodymyr Sterniuk under strict secrecy.

Born Yuriy Voronovskyi on May 5, 1936, in the village of Humynska, he was raised in a devout Christian family. During his youth, he resisted Sovietization and boycotted the Komsomol. After graduating from the Ukrainian Printing Institute in Lviv in 1961 as a printing technology engineer, he sought to use his skills to help publish religious literature banned by the regime. During his student years, he attended underground services in private homes.
