Students of Terra Santa School in Gerusalemme reflect on peace
Students at the Terra Santa School in Jerusalem recently reflected on peace through celebrations of the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis and the three year anniversary of the events of October 7.
During celebrations held in the school courtyards and the San Salvatore parish church, students participated in songs, prayers, and personal stories. Father Ibrahim Faltas noted that the students' reflections were shaped by their memories of seeing missiles in the sky and hearing loud noises on October 7 three years ago.
In a homily, Father Faltas spoke about how Saint Francis traveled to the Holy Land because he believed in peace. This prompted a student to ask why world leaders have not traveled to seek peace, noting that while Saint Francis did not have airplanes, modern travel should make such efforts easier. Father Faltas responded that airplanes are not necessary to desire peace.
