800 years after St Francis’ death, new digital project preserves his basilica for years to come

A new digital platform has launched to preserve the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, Italy, marking the 800th anniversary of the saint's death.

The project, titled Preserving Assisi, uses ultra-high-resolution photography and 3D surveying to document the site. The platform also includes immersive virtual tours and a digital archive to protect the basilica's history and structure for the future.
