A 7-Year-Old Who Dreams of the Priesthood Gets to Serve as “Pastor for a Day”

Greyson, a seven-year-old second grader, spent a day learning about parish life at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Frederick, Maryland. The boy, who dreams of becoming a priest, participated in the "Pastor for a Day" program alongside the parish priest, Father Matt.

Greyson won the experience through a silent auction held by St. John’s Regional Catholic School in the spring of 2026. Father Matt sponsored the opportunity as an auction prize. During the visit, Greyson wore blue and white vestments from his own collection and observed the various responsibilities of a priest, including Mass preparations and parish office work.

Rashely Rodrigo, the social media ministry lead for Saint Katharine Drexel, noted that the day provided Greyson with a look at the daily activities required to run a Catholic community.
