A amizade social como método: o IV Encontro Fratelli tutti em Roma

Representatives from various organizations across the Americas gathered in Rome from September 10 to 12 for the IV Fratelli tutti Meeting, focused on North-South socio-environmental dialogue. The event brought together episcopal conferences, international organizations, banks, foundations, unions, business chambers, universities, and organized communities to address social and environmental challenges through a pluralistic approach.

The Pontifical Commission for Latin America, the Latin American Episcopal Council (CELAM), and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops organized the meeting. Participants discussed using social friendship as a method to resolve complex conflicts. This concept, central to Pope Francis's encyclical *Fratelli tutti*, was also highlighted in Pope Leo XIV's encyclical *Magnifica humanitas*.

In *Magnifica humanitas*, Pope Leo XIV stated that building a human society requires restoring dialogue, the common good, and the ability to form relationships between people with differing views. The Pope emphasized the importance of disarming words, noting that peace begins with how individuals look at, listen to, and speak to one another. The meeting featured four projects designed to bring together diverse actors to address these issues.
