À Dieu père Gilbert

Father Gilbert Bonouvrié died on September 1, 2026, in Agadir at the age of 87. The Archdiocese of Rabat reported that the priest passed away following several days in a coma.

A member of the Society of African Missions from the Holland province, Bonouvrié served in the priesthood for 60 years. He moved to Agadir in 1990 and spent his ministry there, succeeding the Franciscan brothers.

Bonouvrié was known for welcoming tourists by celebrating Sunday services in many different languages. He also worked to include students in the parish and collaborated with the local Protestant Church to provide aid to the less fortunate, particularly in villages. He frequently hosted fellow priests at the Sainte Anne church.
