A False Serenity

United States Vice President J. D. Vance discussed eschatology during a September 1 interview with Bryce Crawford, an Evangelical podcaster and founder of the ministry Jesus in the Streets.

During the podcast, Vance stated he has been fascinated by the study of the end times since he was ten or eleven years old. He told Crawford that he would not be surprised if the Antichrist is already present in the world. Vance noted that he attempts to perform as much of God's work as possible in the meantime.

Vance suggested that the outcome of his work could lead either to the end times or to the creation of a better world that survives long after his death. Antonio Spadaro, writing for Commonweal, noted that Vance presented these two possibilities as equivalents.
