A Historic First, A Shared Mission at Denver’s Regis University: Dr. Shawna Cooper Whitehead Inaugurated as President

Regis University inaugurated Dr. Shawna Cooper Whitehead as its 29th president. During the ceremony, board of trustees chair Derek J. Scarth and Father Tom Curran, superior of the Regis University Jesuit House, placed the presidential medallion on Whitehead.

Whitehead is the first Black woman president to lead a Jesuit university in the United States. As the Denver institution approaches its 150th anniversary, her leadership philosophy is rooted in prayer, listening, and service.
