A place of peace and the spiritual

The Vatican has granted a nihil obstat for Medjugorje, the highest level of endorsement under new guidelines, following a 43 year investigation. This approval allows the Church to sponsor official pilgrimages to the site and recognizes its spiritual benefits.

While the endorsement values the spiritual fruits of the location, the Church does not officially declare the reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary to the six children in 1981 to be supernatural.

Fr. Olek Stirrat and Fr. Leon described the town in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a place of peace where people witness God working through the poor and simple. Fr. Stirrat noted that the site serves as a global center for confession, where priests spend many hours hearing confessions from people traveling from around the world.
