Ahead of Sheen beatification, Father Alindogan preaches at Peoria cathedral

Father Peter James Alindogan delivered the homily at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Peoria, on September 20 to mark the 107th anniversary of the ordination of Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. Msgr. Jason Gray, the cathedral rector, invited Alindogan to preach the anniversary Mass, which took place before Archbishop Sheen’s September 24 beatification.

Alindogan, who serves as the pastor of St. Veronica Parish, Howell, and the director of missions for the Diocese of Trenton, described the invitation as a significant honor. He noted that the cathedral is where Sheen was ordained. According to the Sheen Foundation, Sheen resolved to practice a daily Eucharistic Holy Hour during his ordination, a commitment he maintained throughout his life.
