Collegio Villoresi launches sim racing project for math and physics lessons
Collegio Villoresi in Monza inaugurated a new immersive STEM classroom and the Sim Racing at School project on Friday, October 23. The program introduces a professional driving simulator into high school mathematics and physics lessons, marking the first time such a tool is used for these subjects in Italy.
Geronimo La Russa, president of ACI, stated the project aims to make theory concrete, build job skills, promote road safety, social inclusion, and sustainability. He noted that ACI intends to make this method of schooling available to all interested institutes.
The school rector, Father Giorgio Greco, described the initiative as part of a digital humanism approach. He said technology serves the person and integral formation, and that the school and its partners intend to engage actively with developments in artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and immersive environments.
The inauguration ceremony included students, teachers, and representatives from motorsport and local institutions. Attendees included Bishop Giuseppe Vegezzi, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Milan, ACI Sport director general Mario Isola, and Alfredo Scala, general manager of the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
