Monastery of Bose hosts 32nd International Ecumenical Conference on Orthodox Spirituality

The Monastery of Bose in Italy is hosting its 32nd International Ecumenical Conference on Orthodox Spirituality. The annual gathering focuses on the theme of Abba Pachomius and the origins of community life.

The monastery stated that St. Pachomius, who lived from approximately 290 to 346, is significant for creating a complex structure that included multiple male and female monasteries under a single common rule. The conference explores how he developed a spiritual discipline based on obedience to the Scriptures, charity, shared responsibility, vigilance, mutual forgiveness, and fraternal service. Pachomius is credited with writing the earliest surviving rule for monks.
