Alfoz, the Civil Guard dog who traveled from Spain to France to protect Pope Leo.

Alfoz, a dog from the Spanish Civil Guard K-9 Unit, traveled from Spain to France to assist with security during Pope Leo XIV’s visit to Paris. He was part of a larger security effort involving various specialized units and forces to protect the Pope during his apostolic journey.

The security detail included Operation Sentinelle, which worked alongside internal security forces and utilized drones, bomb-disposal experts, and search units. The Military Governor of Paris stated that the variety of resources used allowed the security teams to respond to the specific needs of the visit with efficiency and flexibility.

Alfoz worked alongside other K-9 teams trained in security and detection duties. Following his assignment, the dog visited the Champs-Élysées for a photo before returning to Spain.
