Ancona accoglie la Lampada della Pace di Assisi giunta dal mare

Ancona welcomed the Lamp of Peace from Assisi by sea on the morning of September 21, 2026. The arrival took place at the Banchina San Francesco during the International Day of Peace as part of the Giro d’Italia for Peace.

Archbishop Angelo Spina, Mayor Daniele Silvetti, and several local officials met the lamp at the pier. The lamp arrived on a patrol boat accompanied by Massimo Seno and Flavio Lotti. The event, titled Francesco e il mare dell’incontro, included students from local schools and representatives from various institutions and associations.

The arrival symbolizes the journey of Saint Francis toward the East and his choice to cross the sea to seek dialogue. Archbishop Spina noted that Ancona is a gateway to the East and a way of peace.
