Angelus News publishes saints of the day

Angelus News published a feature on the saints of the day, highlighting Saints Cosmas and Damian.

The twins were born in Arabia during the third century to Christian parents. As doctors, they provided medical services for free, which led many patients to convert to Christianity. During the Diocletian persecutions at the end of the third century, the brothers were targeted for their fame and faith.

After being captured in 287, Cosmas and Damian refused to deny Jesus despite undergoing various tortures, including crucifixion. Following their refusal to renounce Christ, they were beheaded. The Church includes these saints in the Canon of the Mass and the Litany of the Saints.
