Archbishop Gallagher calls for nuclear nonproliferation

Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher urged nations with nuclear weapons to stop efforts to acquire more during an address to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The Holy See’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations stated that the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes is tied to specific responsibilities. He noted that non-nuclear-weapon states must commit to not acquiring nuclear weapons to ensure this technology is used responsibly.
