Archbishop Lori Talk: Pastoral Staff Day

Archbishop William E. Lori shared personal reflections on the life of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen during introductory remarks for Pastoral Staff Day on October 6, 2026.

Lori described how watching Sheen on television as a child left a lasting impression on him. He recalled writing a letter to Sheen asking for prayers for his father, who required risky back surgery. Sheen responded through the Propagation of the Faith in New York, promising to pray for Lori's father and suggesting that Lori consider the priesthood. Lori stated that this response significantly influenced his vocation.
