Archbishop René Leigue Cesari preaches on God's reward

Archbishop René Leigue Cesari told the Christian community to move past human competition, envy, and comparison to understand that God offers his goodness to everyone equally. During a Sunday Mass on September 20, 2026, the Archbishop of Santa Cruz reflected on the parable of the vineyard workers.

He explained that the parable challenges human ideas of justice, where people expect more reward for more work. Instead, the Archbishop noted that God gives the same reward to all. He stated that a relationship with God cannot be based on human merits, seniority, or rewards.

The Archbishop also cautioned long-term believers against becoming obstacles to those who are new to the faith. He used the teachings to remind the community that God calls everyone to work in his vineyard and views every person the same way.
