Archdiocese of Valencia to produce first musical on St. Francis of Assisi

The Archdiocese of Valencia will present a musical titled El último cántico to mark the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. Produced by Assisi Producciones and written by José Luis Coll, the play will run on September 26 and October 17 at 19:30 at the San Juan Bosco school theater.

The musical aims to depict the life and death of St. Francis. Franciscan Fernando Hueso, vicar of the Monastery of Santo Espíritu del Monte in Gilet, described the production as a novel event intended to share the spirituality of St. Francis.

The Archdiocese will close the anniversary celebrations on October 3 with a Mass at the Cathedral at 11:30, presided over by Archbishop Enrique Benavent.
