Argentina is expecting one of the largest religious gatherings in connection with the Pope’s visit: here are the details

Pope Leo XIV will visit Argentina from November 8 to 11 during his first apostolic journey to South America. Organizers expect more than 1.5 million people to attend a Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Luján, which could make it one of the largest religious gatherings in the country's recent history.

The Argentine government and the national bishops' conference presented preparations for the visit at the Casa Rosada presidential palace on September 21. Officials stated the visit is intended to encourage national reconciliation and dialogue through its pastoral focus. This trip marks the first visit to Argentina by a pope since St. John Paul II traveled there in 1987.

The twelve day trip through Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru begins in Montevideo and ends in Lima. During the Argentine leg, the pope will meet with political leaders and Catholic communities.
