Argentina: juzgan al líder de los “Sanadores egipcios”, que “diagnosticaba” tumores y después los “sanaba”

A trial began this week against Álvaro Juan Aparicio Díaz, known as Sahú Ari Merek, and Carolina Cannes in Córdoba, Argentina. The pair faces charges of labor trafficking, exploitation, and sexual abuse related to an Egyptian healing sect that operated in Pozos Azules, Traslasierra.

A former member told Noticiero Doce that she joined the group as a student unaware of the organization's inner workings. She alleged that Aparicio Díaz presented himself as a master with extraordinary abilities and used fabricated stories of miracles to maintain control. The woman stated that the group created a false image of the leader, which he forced members to project.

The former member described a pattern where the leader would claim to diagnose and then cure serious illnesses. She testified that Aparicio Díaz falsely claimed to have detected and cured her cancer, leading her to believe she owed him her life. She explained that members typically entered as guests or students before being pressured into working every day.
