At UN, Vatican renews push for two-state peace, cautions on AI growth

Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican secretary of state, told diplomats at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Sept. 24 that a two-state solution is the only way to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. Speaking at high-level meetings, Parolin stated that this solution must be based on secure and internationally recognized borders to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The proposed peace plan seeks to establish two independent countries: Israel as a homeland for the Jewish people, and Palestine for the Palestinian people, encompassing the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. Parolin also called for limits on the rapid development of artificial intelligence.
