Caritas Australia urges support for Nepal flood victims

Caritas Australia is asking Australians to donate to help communities in northern Nepal devastated by catastrophic flooding. The appeal comes as local partner Caritas Nepal expands its emergency response to assist families who lost homes, livelihoods, and relatives.

The flooding has caused widespread damage to roads, bridges, schools, health facilities, and homes. Authorities report that hundreds of people have died, while thousands remain missing or unaccounted for. Rescue operations continue as officials attempt to reach isolated areas and repair critical infrastructure.

Caritas Nepal has set up community kitchens to provide meals. While the kitchens were initially intended to serve 300 families, the response has expanded alongside partner agency Catholic Relief Services.
