The Archdiocese of Huê has released the scripture readings for the feast of Saint Matthew, the Apostle and Gospel writer, celebrated on September 21.

The first reading is from Ep 4,1-7.11-13. In this text, Paul, writing from prison, urges believers to live in a manner worthy of their calling. He encourages the community to practice humility, gentleness, and patience while maintaining unity through love. Paul notes that Christ provides different roles to individuals, such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, to prepare the holy people for service and to build up the body of Christ.

The responsorial psalm is from Tv 18A,2-3.4-5ab, which describes how the heavens declare the glory of God and how his voice echoes throughout the earth.
