Barcelona inicia los actos centrales de la Mercè con la procesión de la patrona hasta la Catedral

Barcelona began its central religious celebrations for La Mercè on Sunday, September 20, with a procession of the image of Our Lady of Mercy. The procession carries the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Barcelona and co-patron of the city from the Basilica of La Mercè to the Barcelona Cathedral.

The procession starts at 18.30 in the Plaza de la Mercè and travels through the streets of the historic center. The image is expected to arrive at the Cathedral at approximately 19.15, where a Holy Mass will be held. During the procession, a novena Mass is also scheduled for 19.00 at the Basilica of La Mercè.

These events are part of a novena that began on September 15 and lead up to the solemnity of the Virgin of Mercy on Thursday, September 24.
