Be large-hearted people, Archbishop Costelloe tells Mercy Village
Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB urged the congregation at Mercy Village in Wembley to be large-hearted people during a Mass on Tuesday, September 22. The Mass commemorated 180 years since the Sisters of Mercy arrived in Western Australia, following the arrival of Ursula Frayne and the first sisters at Fremantle on January 8, 1846.
During his homily, Archbishop Costelloe described mercy as large-heartedness and noted it was the driving force in the life of Catherine McAuley. He recalled the 2016 Year of Mercy, when Pope Francis described Jesus Christ as the face of the Father's mercy. The Archbishop noted that the Mercy family will celebrate a bicentenary in 2027.
