Beato Francisco de Posadas, 20 de septiembre

The Church celebrates the feast of Blessed Francis of Posadas on September 20.

Born in Córdoba, Spain, on November 25, 1644, Francis was the only child of Esteban and María. After his father died when Francis was 5 years old, his mother remarried, and Francis faced years of mistreatment from his stepfather. This stepfather prevented him from studying with the Jesuits and forced him into an apprenticeship as a cordwainer.

Francis pursued religious life against his stepfather's wishes and was taken in by Fray Miguel de Villalón in San Pablo when he was 16 years old. He is noted for possessing qualities such as the poverty of san Francisco de Asís, the austerity of san Francisco de Paula, the sweetness and wisdom of san Francisco de Sales, the zeal for the faith of san Francisco de Regis, and the obedience and temper of san Francisco Javier.
