Behind the Broadcast, ‘Men for Others’

Students at Marquette University High School are gaining media experience through the Hilltopper Media Collective, a student-led program advised by faculty. The group recently completed a three and a half hour live YouTube broadcast of a soccer game between the Hilltoppers and Kenosha Bradford at Hart Park in Wauwatosa on August 28.

The collective grew from a conversation in spring 2024 between students and faculty member Sean Raffaelli. While Tom Mussoline, who runs the MUHS Broadcasting Homeroom, originally planned to start broadcasts during the 2024-25 winter season, the group expanded its activities after the school hosted the 2024 Jesuit Soccer Classic. The program uses hands-on media work to help students develop leadership, teamwork, and confidence.
