«Bênção dos Capacetes»: Patriarca de Lisboa desafia motociclistas ao respeito pelos outros e à responsabilidade na estrada

Patriarch of Lisbon Rui Valério Fátima called on motorcyclists to practice road responsibility and respect for others during the 11th annual Blessing of the Helmets pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Fátima. During the celebration at the Recinto de Oração da Cova da Iria, the patriarch stated that responsible driving serves as a way to love one's neighbor.

He explained that asking for a blessing is a commitment rather than a magical gesture or a way to gain immunity from risk. Valério Fátima noted that a blessed helmet would contradict irresponsible driving and reminded participants that life is a gift for which people are responsible. He described prudence as a mature form of courage, suggesting that true courage involves understanding that freedom requires responsibility.

The annual event drew tens of thousands of motorcyclists from across Portugal and abroad to the Sanctuary of Fátima starting Saturday.
