Bishop Bambera’s Message for Respect Life Month 2026: Every Human Life is a ‘Treasured Gift from God’

Bishop Bambera released a message for Respect Life Month 2026, describing human life as a gift from God that requires protection from conception to natural death.

In his message, the bishop cited Pope Leo XIV, who previously told the people of Spain that defending human life is a goal of civilization rather than a partisan or religious issue. The bishop noted that a nation shows its moral greatness by protecting and loving fragile lives.

The bishop warned that human life faces ongoing threats. He noted that while the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade returned abortion regulation to individual states, some states have expanded access. He specifically mentioned that Massachusetts became the tenth state to allow the procedure at any point during a pregnancy this past August.
