Bishop begins longer visits to Catholic schools

Bishop Emilio E. Biosca, O.F.M. Cap., began conducting extended visits to Catholic schools in the Diocese of Venice, starting with a Mass for St. Mary Academy and St. Martha Catholic School on Sept. 17, 2026.

The bishop intends to use these longer visits to study school histories, observe current operations, and understand the hopes and difficulties of students, faculty, and parents. Bishop Emilio stated that these visits will help the diocese strengthen schools in both education and faith.

During the event at the Zazarino Center, the bishop shared his personal history of attending Catholic schools in Virginia. He also recounted meeting Mother Teresa of Calcutta during his high school years and shared her message regarding the importance of loving others.
