Bishop constitutes commission for beatification cause

Bishop Santiago Gómez Sierra of Huelva has appointed a historical and archival commission to assist with the beatification cause of Madre Luisa Sosa Fontenla. The bishop issued the appointment by decree on September 2, 2026.

The commission members, who met with the bishop on September 11, include María Cinta Reglado Ortega, Aquilino Delgado Domínguez, Encarnación María Domínguez Durán, Julio Andrés Gutiérrez García, and Sister Inmaculada Florencio Pérez Durante. During a meeting at the bishop's residence, the members swore an oath to their roles in the presence of the bishop and the diocesan chancellor.

The group will work according to canon law to manage the historical and archival requirements of the beatification process. The meeting included Rubén Sánchez Arancibia, director of the diocesan secretariat for the cause of saints, and Juan José Travé, the priest of Nerva.
